There have been lots of requests for updates and information on the progress of ECS, PCS and KIS so the simplest thing seems to be to take advantage of the latest technology and try out a blog. What I intend to do is gather together historical information on the history of ECS and publish it in chronological order for reference. From now on, everyone involved in the development of the electronic Palliative Care Summary (ePCS) the Key Information Summary (KIS) and the extension of ECS access will be able to add in up to date information on their projects and answer any questions that are asked. Catagories will be able to filter relevant postings into order, and editing rights will ensure that no offensive comments are left for others to read. Please feel free to comment or post queries and we will do our best to reply.

Vision Go Live
KIS is now ready for VISION practices!
Pilot sites have finished testing the latest version following the upgrade to DLM 441 and health boards have been given the go ahead to start the rollout. Most Boards already have plans in place for training days and will be contacting practices over the next few days with dates. All sorts of training materials have been produced, from simple guides to full user instructions and technical documentation. These are all available on the KIS website from the InPS Website.
Update on Vision DLM441
A Go / No Go conference call will be held with InPS today to confirm the start of the rollout of DLM441 and KIS. Good feedback has been received from pilot practices regarding DLM441 and KIS and no major issues have been reported since the upgrades last week (24/06).
If confirmed, DLM441 will be on general release as soon as possible and boards will be able to start the KIS upgrade process immediately after this software is installed.
EMIS Rollout Complete
It has been confirmed that all EMIS practices are now live with KIS as part of the Release B rollout. Figures on usage will be available later in June.
Vision Timescales for DLM440 and DLM441
Updated: 18 June 2013
Due to issues found in pilot testing Vision have made fixes as part of the DLM441 release and this is on track for release to the pilot practices from tomorrow (19 June). It has been confirmed that this release will be available for general release by the end of June.
This is subject to the final testing that will be carried out as soon as possible by the pilot practices.

Known Issues document for EMIS
A document has been created and agreed with EMIS to highlight issues that are due to be fixed in later releases of EMIS in 2013. This document is available to download from the ECS website and has been circulated to IM+T Facilitators.
EMIS and KIS timescales UPDATE
All EMIS Practices are now live with KIS following the completion of the rollout of Release B.
Any issues should be reported to the EMIS Support Desk in line with any other issue with EMIS.
Further EMIS releases of KIS are currently being planned and will be available in Release E and F 2013 (September / October 2013 and November / December 2013). The development of these changes is also on track.
Attachments on KIS
Please note that it is not possible to include any attachments on KIS. This is due to a number of factors, notably file size and the requirements for viewing any files. This also helps speed up the sharing of information especially for the Scottish Ambulance Service and NHS24.
Selection of Current and Past Medical History
Following a query from a GP in Glasgow, it can be confirmed that all Current and Past Medical History items must be selected by the GP to ensure that only the relevant items are included on KIS.
It was agreed that there should be no automatic inclusion of codes for this part of KIS to prevent any sensitive codes being included by mistake.
EMIS pilot users are advised that a fix will be released on the next version of EMIS (April) to support the addition of past significant events.
